Sunnah days are the 17th, 19th, or 21st of the Lunar Calendar. These sunnah dates for hijama have great significance in Islam religion. The combination of the 17th, 19th, and 21st with Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday are the best for Hijama.
The Prophet (PBUH) explained that Hijama is one of the best medicines: “The best medicine with which you treat yourselves is Hijama.” [Sahih Bukhari Hadith-No: 5371]
Hijama (Wet Cupping) is one of the remedies from the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Waalihi WA Sallam). Not only did He have Hijama performed on himself, but He also recommended it as a beneficial treatment for various ailments. Hijama is derived from the Arabic word Hajam which means sucking. It is an ancient form of alternative treatment in which a therapist creates a mild suction by leaving a cup on the skin for 3 minutes. Then the therapist removes the cup and uses a small scalpel to make tiny and light cuts on your skin to do a second suction of drawing out a small quantity of blood. After the suction of blood is done, the area is covered with the ointment and bandage to prevent infection. It is used to get rid of harmful toxins for healing and enhance the blood circulation in the body.
It is a suction only method in which the therapist place special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction which gives a massage effect. It is done for various purposes including relaxation, blood flow, decreasing the pain, deep tissue massage and inflammation.
If it’s your first session you might get 3-5 cups but in continuation, you can get more than 12 cups.
